Kelly has always found the arts, be it music, visual or fine craft, a healing and vital part of her life. When her teaching career came to an unexpected end after she sustained a traumatic brain injury in 2018, she began a part-time Fine Art diploma program at Emily Carr University in 2021 which had a profound impact on her recovery and mental health. In her studies at ECU, Kelly realized that her permanent visual and neurological challenges affected her ability to both create and enjoy visual art. She began to explore the use of dark grounds and cooler colour palettes and immediately noticed an improvement in both visual and cognitive load. This new style, which she jokingly coined “Zeebism” has been immensely popular with audiences of all abilities.
Kelly is proud and grateful to be a member of; Route 22 Artist Collective (2022), Calgary Artists Society (juried 2023), Studio 52 (2024), Riverview Artists (2026) and, most recently, to have been accepted as a Juried Member of the Alberta Society of Artists (2026). Among her many accomplishments, Kelly received the prestigious Rose Baxter People's Choice Award (Paint the Foothills 2023), and was Airdrie Life Magazine featured cover artist (Fall 2025). Her solo exhibition, "Forest Bathing" was immensely popular, and she is excited to present a new exhibit, "Envisioned", at cSpace in Calgary in July 2026.
Kelly’s works can be found in collections spanning the globe including; Mongolia, Australia, Germany, Netherlands, England, Wales, and across North America. She is thrilled and grateful that her work is accessible to all and being enjoyed by so many!
Kelly hopes to inspire innovation in the visual arts world and normalize inclusive art experiences for all.
