Wendy Walker

Wendy was raised in southern Manitoba and has lived in Alberta for over 35 years.  She is a self-taught artist who enjoys capturing her photographs on canvas.  Whether on a hike, a short drive in the country or a holiday, there is always an opportunity to snap an interesting moment that can be used as reference.

She was introduced to acrylics by a friend and began actively painting in 2007 when she joined a local art club.  Wendy draws inspiration from nature and enjoys working on a variety of subjects and settings as each offers the opportunity to use the paint in different ways.  Her work is detailed, drawing attention to the colours, reflections and movement that are a part of each composition.

Wendy’s acrylics express the mood of the moment, whether it is a misty morning along a shoreline or a vibrant fall display of golden aspens.  “Painting is an opportunity to share with others the enjoyment that I feel for each setting and to challenge me to grow my artistic skills.”

Wendy had several paintings accepted into the Stampede Western Art Gallery in 2010 and participated in the Artist’s Window in 2011.  Her work can be seen at local art shows in the Calgary area and on her website at www.wendywalker.ca.  She is currently an active member of the Cochrane Art Club, Foothills Art Club and Riverview Artists.
