Carol Little

Carol Little
Carol Little was born and raised in Calgary, Alberta. With a scholarship, she attended the Banff Centre and then graduated from the Alberta College of Art with Honours in Weaving and Fabrics in 1972. Post graduate studies at the Institudo d’Allende, Mexico was her reward.
Carol began her professional career as a contract weaver under Douglas Motter for 6 years. After that time, she continued her weaving through commissioned work at home, allowing her to raise a family. Wanting to experiment with more realism, Carol began to paint on silk. This medium allowed her to express her love of fabrics in a more ‘painterly fashion’.
From weaving to batik to painting on silk to mixed media, Carol has enjoyed the cycle of developing a tactile surface rich with texture and colour. Carol is represented in several Calgary and area galleries and is a member of the Federation of Canadian Artists, International Society of Experimental Artists and local Riverview Art Group.

Artist’s Statement
“I strive to take a media to new possibilities – let my feelings and emotions guide me across the composition and let the language of emotion relate to the viewer. I like to take the rhythm and feel of texture and colour touch the viewer with some of their own experiences. Then I want to give them new experiences. The creative process is universal yet each of us moves through life in their own personal rhythm. I want to make a connection – and in some way relay the joy and pleasure I receive in my creations.”

I am interested in purchasing some of your wonderful pieces as a private collector.
How can I best view what is available for sale? Is your website up to date? I reside between Michigan and Oregon.
