Riverview
This group of 12 local Calgary artists was organized in 1987 and features a variety of approximately 80 paintings per show holding exhibitions about six times each year. We try to encourage a variety of styles and techniques so that the shows have a unique freshness and quality of each original painting.
The group is an incorporated non-profit organization designed to promote an appreciation of art as part of the culture of our city.
Shared Visions

These paintings were created by the members of the Riverview Art Group as a celebration of our creativity.
On a Saturday in chilly January, we gather in the studio, setting up to paint in a circular format. Each artist starts a composition, working with their preferred medium (oil, watercolour, acrylic or mixed media) and lays down the preliminary composition in 30 minutes.
At that time the brushes and paint are left with the painting and the artist moves on to the next station. This process continues around the circuit until everyone has added their mark to each of the paintings.
Excitement and awe abound with the completion of each new creation.
This wonderful learning process produces about eight images that we share with the Calgary community as featured draw prizes at each of our shows for the up coming year.
